The S.A.F.E. OH& S on-line survey system
One of the strongest aspects about the S.A.F.E system is
its on-line survey process. Every individual in a team, a
department, a division, a location or the entire enterprise
can participate in the survey by taking the questionnaire
on line. Not only does this immediately offer every survey
participant an immediate output report recording their own
opinions about current OH&S performance in the 10 categories
of the S.A.F.E system but an overall summary is also created
for the entire participating group.
The overall summary report also details the aggregated feedback
results for each of the ten categories measured in the profiles-r-us.com
occupational health and safety opinion Survey, and each of
the individual questions that comprise the survey instrument
(80 in total). Inevitably, any report is likely to contain
opinions or views that are relatively positive and opinions
and views that are relatively negative. Both provide opportunities
for better organisational OHS performance by taking the data
seriously and by acting firmly and quickly on the results.
This Summary Report contains the following:
-
An introduction to the importance of rigorously and systematically
gathering people's opinions, attitudes, beliefs and values
and acting on the results (whatever they may be).
-
The team or organisation's graphic profiles plus supporting
statistical summary
-
A category by category report that summarises the team
or the organisation's results in ten major OHS areas (two
for each of the five key OH& S clusters.
-
A report that summarises results at individual question
level
-
One page action suggestions to provide ideas on what
can be immediately considered in future planning terms
for each of the five clusters involved (in order to help
create and sustain organisational OHS success).
The on-line S.A.F.E survey process
 |
The on-line S.A.F.E OHS survey has 80 questions. 70
of these are core questions that remain the same for
every survey. However, the survey also allows 10 questions
(one for each category) to be tailored to reflect important
short term or local issues to be canvassed in a team
or particular enterprise location for example.
The S.A.F.E OHS survey is unique in on-line assessment
systems in that it offers every participating individual
a 12 page output report that summarises their own personal
scores, organised into their categories and with some
short interpretation notes. Individuals can use this
report to compare their answers to those generated by
the whole team, department of enterprise. For the entire
respondent group, each S.A.F.E OHS survey generates
a 40-page complete output report. Even this provides
rich interpretative data, the report can then also be
produced in a range of demographic analysis versions
to allow even more detailed analysis to be undertaken.
|
The S.A.F.E OHS survey plots overall results on a circular
profile (such as the one illustrated below).

This quickly shows the degree to which people in any one
team of group (on a collective basis) feel that OHS performance
in their organisation is positive in individual clusters and
specific categories on the overall wheel. Effort to improve
can therefore be subsequently concentrated on those areas
in which the category scores are lowest.
