S.A.F.E Binders
Binder 1
Resource binder 1 in the S.A.F.E. system introduces
the entire S.A.F.E. process including the overall strategic
change management map that should be followed by any
team or enterprise on its OHS improvement journey (whatever
the starting point).
The majority of the binder provides detailed loose-leaf
audit pages for each of the ten categories within the
S.A.F.E. system. These pages provide examples of performance
verification that each team should seek with space to
record observation notes and assessment comments. Each
of the audit categories offers bronze, silver and gold
level assessment questions to allow teams to progressively
build OHS performance.
Binder 2
Resource binder 2 in the S.A.F.E. system has three
sections. Section 1 contains ten management support
booklets (all 12 pages in length). These booklets aim
to assist S.A.F.E. audit or assessment team members
to build their interpersonal and task level competencies
in areas such as goal setting, project management, managing
change, communication, problem solving etc.
Section 1 provides the measurement system that can
be applied when teams or whole organisations feel that
they are ready to formally rate their performance (either
in a self or third party audit). Loose-leaf audit templates
are therefore provided in bronze, silver and gold categories.
Section 3 contains a wide range of sample OHS procedures,
checklists, templates and forms to help organisations
to improve on existing documentation approaches where
necessary and to fill any gaps that may have emerged
from the audit. In this section, the procedures, checklists,
templates and forms are organised within their relevant
audit category.
Binder 3
Resource binder 3 in the S.A.F.E. system has two main
sections. Section 1 provides a wide range of possible
intervention strategies to bring about OHS improvement
once a preliminary audit has been carried out. These
strategies (offered at individual, team and organisation
wide level) are broken into the five major clusters
covered by the S.A.F.E. system, to allow teams to focus
on those clusters that are seen to be weakest or in
greatest need of developmental effort.
The second section of this binder outlines the on-line
'bottom-up' assessment system that should be utilised
as part of the overall process. This includes a full
sample output report that is automatically generated
by the system every time it is used.
