The Janus Performance management system has ten stand-alone individual
module workbooks in the following titles:
1. Taking the Performance Initiative
This workbook focuses on making sure that a performance appraisal
process is set up in a climate of openness and trust and that
individual optimism, motivation and proactivity is encouraged
and nurtured at the outset.
2. Setting Performance Objectives
This workbook focuses on setting clear and agreed performance
goals or objectives at the beginning of the performance management
cycle.
3. Giving & Receiving Performance Feedback
This workbook provides extensive proactive guidance on how
to offer constructive feedback where appropriate and also how
to accept feedback in a positive and constructive manner.
4. Performance coaching
This workbook provides a step-by-step guide to effective
coaching throughout the performance appraisal process.
5. Conducting a Performance Update discussion
This workbook offers a structured process by which managers
and appraisees can engage in regular performance update discussions
in a positive way.
6. Handling unacceptable Performance
This workbook describes what should ideally take place when
unacceptable or poor performance arises and corrective action
needs to be quickly taken.
7. Preparing for an end of cycle appraisal discussion
This workbook provides a practical guide to the steps that
should be taken by both the manager and the appraisee to ensure
that the end of cycle appraisal discussion is both constructive
and worthwhile for both parties.
8. Career Planning and development discussions
This workbook describes the career planning approach that
can be taken by the manager of an employee and by the appraisee
themselves to prepare for their own future growth and development.

This workbook provides a simple and practical process for
clear action planning at all key stages of the performance management
process (including several forms and templates that may be used).
10. Performance Competencies
This workbook explains the competency based system that underpins
the whole Janus Performance Management process and describes the
36 core competencies that are made available.
