We know our profiles are easy to use for external selection of job applicants, but they can
be even more powerful for internal selection or when internal
organizational assessment centers are being set up. Assessment centers are ideal when individuals
need to be matched to more complex or multi-task roles within the organization
and greater scrutiny of candidates is necessary to ensure that costly selection
mistakes are avoided.
''Ideal'' competency profiles can be completed and used to assess individual
applicants for their overall suitability. Alternatively, the job fit analysis can
be used to judge how much training or development will likely be needed if an
individual is to reach a minimum of pre-specified standard. This analysis will provide you with the data needed to target
training initiatives very specific competency areas (thus
avoiding wasted effort, time and money). When applied to a group of people the
information becomes a full and detailed organizational training needs analysis.
